Hellequin 5 by Staraya Hellequin 5 by Staraya
My Hellequin cosplay 5/7

Warning: boobies. Blame the cameraman! xD

Made completely from scratch, using own patterns. The only bought items were the belt, a pair of canvas shoes I sewed the boots to and a basic mask. Also my first time using a sewing machine!

Time: over 4 months
Cost: approx. £100 OTL
72 individual pieces of fabric, 34m of gold trim and a lot of gluing my fingers to things.

Cosplay (c) Me :iconstaraya:
Photography and effects (c) :iconsuaviorxchu:
Hellequin (c) Assassin's Creed and whoever owns that. 'N'stuff.

I used garden wire and a glue gun. Just make sure that they are very firmly attached! :D

Absolutely beautiful I'm going to start the mask with Plaster Cloth for now... Btw, did you put cotton inside the hoodie?... it looks awesomely puffy :meow:

Wow, I wouldn't even know where to start with plaster cloth; I've only gone as far as mastering paper maché OTL And amazingly no, I didn't stuff it. It just magically held itself up! But I'm sure that stuffing would work equally as well (:

Hi there! Sorry for the late comment, I’ve been on holiday until today!

I see that you’ve started on the mask, that should be fun! I did my mask the day before a con, because I was rushing.

Where to start? I just rushed in head first and started with the top, but I guess that choosing the right material will be the first thing. It’s best to get something stretchy, preferably in two directions, so that you can make it tight but still move

As for the actual costume, I guess that either the top or the trousers are the best place (:

Sorry that isn’t very helpful! OTL This was my first proper costume so I don’t really know what advice to give! If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask (:

Haha, I do try  And awesome! :D Looking forward to seeing it.
Yeah, I was too proud to ask for help, except for the trouser pattern, because I didn't want them to end up with three legs! But it would have been a lot quicker if I had asked for help so take advantage of having someone who makes clothes (: Good luck!

Very lovely...Im working on my own hellequin cosplay myself...so far I've dyed my fingers yellow...cut my finger open...and yelled at the fabric company...but its getting there! What kind of fabric/how did did you make the head pullover? Any tips otherwise you'd like to give me as I start my magical adventure?

Haha, thanks! Oh wow, good luck with yours. I had a look at your gallery; loving the mask! You've done a really good job with it. Mine was the last thing since I hate making props. Wish I had time to make the knives too. Maybe for the next con.
Ah you dyed yours? What material did you use? I think between us we could make a decent hospital trip xD I used entirely one-way stretch velvet for mine, including the hood thing. I just made sure it was stretching the right way, but I did have a zip in the back to make the neck tighter.
Other tips? That makes me sound qualified to say things xD I guess just put the time in? My friend made about 3 cosplays in the time it made to make this one but I hope it was worth it (:

I used a lyrca blend 4 way stretch....dyed it a golden tan/yellow to match the gameplay...and dyed the piping that goes along the seems as well. Im still working on all the piping, it takes forever to put in....but it will be worth it. Thanks for the advice. I might have to look into the zipper idea...especially for my boots. I think im going to have to make them for the elite gear. I cant really find a place that sells thigh high heeless purple boots in that shade.

Thanks though! Ill be sure to keep you updated and maybe post a few more pictures of the daggers and mask.

Oh man, you've already done so much more work than me! xD I mean dyeing fabric? I just went for the (only) gold velvet I could find in the entire of London xD If you're going to such a level of detail then I can't wait to see the final result! And sorry my advice is so rubbish. I honestly had no clue what I was doing for all of this and was guessing right down to the patterns! xD But zippers are a god-send. Originally I had seven but I managed to cut 2 out, in a manner of speaking.

Well what did you do about the little shoulder flaps? (where the sleeves meet the top part and it extends out)...Ive been going through several different ideas about how to go about it.

I just made the basic top as it was and then added the crescent shapes after, with cut to size shoulder pads to stiffen them. I then just attached the underneath to the inside of the arm hole (before the actual sleeve was attached).

LOL I swear you knew XD but never mind i usually go under the name of bamboowitch for much of my internet froliccing.....

the dark, wood, silent,song... quite frankly the main element cards are quite good...though i realise some may look quite silly in RL.....

If I did know, then I didn't know it was this particular account xD I'll ahve to keep an eye out for bamboowitch, though we probably don't hang in the same internet circles xD

TBH everything is going to look silly irl; that's the joy of cosplay xD I like the look of silent song though, but I do still have to go through them all. There are so many!
